Living in today’s world is hugely stressful to the body and mind.
Mistakes in our diet and lifestyle, emotional, mental and physical stress, pollution from the environment, food and just plain rushing around all take their toll on our body’s ability to heal, which may become faulty over time.
Toxic substances accumulate in the tissues. These eventually lead to imbalances, disease and the deterioration associated with aging.
The following may prove interesting for you to find out if your body is toxic.
To remove these impurities and imbalances, Ayurveda (The Science of Life), prescribes a technology known as PURVAKARMA, which restores youthfulness and vitality.
Imagine yourself in a quiet restful room with healing melodies being played as your body is blissfully, experiencing special massage techniques to reduce these toxic substances in your body.
Our highly trained practitioners will develop a individualized detoxification and rejuvenation program for you and will assess your individual problems/needs.
The practitioner will monitor your progress throughout the treatment and your consulting practitioner will administer your treatments.
Purvakarma
PURVAKARMA involves a number of procedures specifically designed to eliminate impurities and imbalances.
There are different types of procedures for different types of imbalances and individual body types.
Purvakarma is a specialized sequence of treatments that focus on softening, loosening and dislodging toxins in the various organ systems in the body.
These toxins may be physical, emotional or mental in nature and block the natural balance in our lives. Softening and loosening toxins in the body is achieved by internal and external oleation using herbalized oils as well as herbalized steam.
Your consulting practitioner will prescribe the internal oleation. These are herbal substances in a digestible oil base and are taken twice daily for the duration of the 7 days of purvakarma.
Snehana
Snehana requires that specially prepared herbal oils will be introduced into the body by a highly trained Purvakarma Therapist.
This process is called Snehana. Specific massage sequences are used in an hour long process that softens, loosens and dislodges toxins.
This process is deeply relaxing and enjoyable as stress and toxins are released at all levels – physical, emotional and mental. Snehana literally means to “Nurture, to love, to hear, to express kindness and compassion” – and this is exactly what you will experience during the daily or week long treatment.
Nadiswedana
Nadiswedana is a treatment you will experience using herbalized steam. It is directed to specific parts of the body and the oils previously applied are propelled deep into the tissue. The heat and oil combination is deeply relaxing but reaches deep seated toxins which are mobilized and loosened and brought into your organs of elimination.
Shirodhara
Shirodhara is the 4th treatment offered in the purvakarma phase of your detoxification and rejuvenation. A precisely prepared herbalized oil is poured in a steady warm stream onto specific points over the forehead in a rhythmic manner. A conical heat retaining pot (shiropot) is used to administer this treatment. As the herbalized oil runs over the forehead, the herbs act to gently rest the nervous system. This process is intensely relaxing as deep seated emotional and mental toxins are released.
Bashpaswedan
This whole body exposure to herbal steam further enhances the loosening and dislodging of toxins deep in the tissue.
Kati Basti
Kati Basti is used to relieve lower back pain and discomfort caused by muscle spasm and rigidity of the lower spine. It also strengthens the bone tissue in the area. Kati Basti means “retained on the lower back”.
Medicated oils are applied within a container made of black gram dough that is built around the lumbosacral area. Kati Basti helps with Chronic lower back pain, Lumbar vertebral degeneration Osteoarthritis of the lumbar vertebral joints, muscle spasm of the lumbar postural muscles and Chronic constipation. It mobilises deep seated tissue toxins (Ama) and promotes the elimination of these toxins.
It is a strong pacifier of Vata Dosha Endometriosis, Osteoporosis, Lumbar/sacral disc problems including protrudings and PMT Ovarian dysfunction.
Nasya
Nasya is especially used for sinus congestion & hayfever or sometimes longer. Nasya is administered by our Purvakarma Therapist by a brisk massage over the sinus area, using a warm herbalized oil. Gentle heat is then applied over these areas and finally a detoxifying oil introduced into the nostrils (2 – 3 drops) to soften, loosen and dislodge toxins accumulated in this area of the body.
Snehana, nadiswedana, bashpaswedana, nasya and shirodhara take up to 3 hours to perform. Purvakarma techniques may be used to treat over 80 different diseases but its most profound effect is in the manner in which it reconnects you to your TRUE NATURE which is often obscured by stress and toxic accumulation.
The rebalanacing that occurs in the nervous system is most noticeable and the deep sense of balance that generally ensues is dramatic. At times a few kilograms in weight is lost during treatment – a positive sign that toxins are indeed being released.
Rejuvenation
After systematically mobilising, loosening and eliminating toxins from your body, rejuvenation therapies are administered using appropriate diet and rejuvenating herbal tonics and nutrients. These are selected by the consulting practitioner and recommended for a period of 3 months. Digestion is strengthened and the tissue and organ systems repaired and rejuvenated.
Your practitioner will also assist you as a “Health Coach” and work with you to establish a healthy diet and lifestyle routine best suited to your needs.
