Acidity (Stomach Acidity, Heartburn)
Over acidity in the body tissues is one of the basic causes of many arthritic and rheumatic diseases. Reflux, stomach ulcers and Heartburn are almost always in the wings if the body is continually over-acidic. Balanced body chemistry is essential to immune system maintenance and disease correction. A healthy body keeps large alkaline reserves to meet the demands of too many acid producing foods. When these are depleted beyond a 3:1 ratio, health can be seriously threatened.
Acne, Pimples & Skin Blemishes
Skin disorders are due to Chronic Inflammatory diseases of the skin, with lesions occurring most frequently on the face, chest and back. There is an overactivity of the sebaceous glands of the skin. Excessive sebum blocks the gland openings which become infected & inflamed. It appears to have three main underlying causes:
- Hormonal changes during puberty, or at any time
- Poor diet
- and the body’s inability to eliminate waste.
Although teenage acne is extremely common (4 out of 5 teenagers develop it) adult acne is now more prevalent, a clear sign of our modern poor diet. Whiteheads are plugs of oil and dead skin cells under the surface of the skin that block oil from flowing freely to the skin surface. They can turn into blackheads when they reach the surface of the skin.
The importance of a good diet is important, including the need to reduce sugars and fried foods. Supplements including zinc, may be given to promote healing, reduce scarring and inhibit the growth of acne producing organisms. Importantly zinc levels should be measured before zinc is prescribed. Essential Fatty Acids helps alleviate acne but results may not be noticed until 3 months of supplementation. An antimicrobial skin healing lotion is recommended to help the skin heal.
Acute Injuries Definition
Acute injuries may include any muscular skeletal problem that brings about pain. This may occur after sport, accidents or over the years from pain flaring due to an old injury. A low frequency light machine along with Structural Balancing and Bowen Technique can be used. Natural anti- inflammatory herbs like Boswellia, Turmeric and vitamins are used to repair connective tissue and cartilage.
Allergies
Respiratory allergies can be triggered from environmental pollutants such as smoke fumes and seasonal conditions such as dust, pollen or spores. The important word to understand here is trigger. Triggers like dust, pollens, chemicals etc. are not the cause, they are the triggers. The cause needs to be found and it usually has a direct link with the inability of the liver, digestive system or immune system to work effectively. This type of allergic reaction often occurs when the body has an excess of mucous, which breeds irritants. Often common medications mask symptoms and have a rebound effect; the more you use them the more you need them.
To specifically pinpoint allergies, a Vega Test can be performed. This may identify major triggers or allergies to wheat, melons, dairy and sugar. A homeopathic remedy and herbal medication can be used along with other medications that can be successful in treating viruses and bacteria.
Alzheimer’s Disease
The growing number of people living into their early 50′s to 90′s is evolving into a population of people who suffer from significant loss of memory, thought and language. Alzheimer’s disease, a serious health problem is now a common condition. Many of those diagnosed are really a victim of too many drugs and or have several nutritional deficiencies that may be easily improved. The symptoms include the loss of ability to think clearly or remember past or present facts, names, places etc., loss of touch with reality, confusion, impaired judgement, difficulty in completing thoughts or following directions and personality and behavioural changes. Even in earlier years memory loss or brain fog can be a problem. People even in their late 20′s are now coming in with brain fog, cold hands and feet, bloating and mood swings. If these symptoms do not seem to clear up after a short period of time then some Naturopathic or preventative help may be required.
With any process of chronic ill health the diagnosed condition usually takes a number of years before it becomes serious. Diabetes is an example. If someone has a binge on chockies for one day, Diabetes is not the end result. However if these types of foods are eaten on a regular basis over a 20 year period Diabetes may be the end result. The same goes with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia as it takes many years before severe chronic symptoms become evident. Preventative medicine is best.
Anti-Aging Program
Factors which accelerate aging include:
-
toxin exposure,
-
infections,
-
allergies,
-
nutritional deficiencies,
-
free radical exposure
- and poor blood sugar metabolism.
To ensure longevity and vitality we must remove these stimulants and promote the correct healing processes of the body. The following multi step procedure we use for most of our clients at the clinic concerned with anti aging can correct the processes that lead to accelerated aging.
Clients can be put onto an Anti-Aging program which may include:
-
Detoxification to promote normal digestive processes, with gut flora balance.
-
We can possibly help repair gut dysfunction and support liver detoxification which may help ease allergenic dietary factors.
-
We give a balanced diet that may help to regulate blood glucose levels, as high blood glucose levels is closely associated with rapid tissue aging and chronic disease progression. We aim to reduce inflammation associated with the pain in knees and joints with herbs and essential fatty acids.
-
We advise a balanced diet that helps to regulate blood glucose levels, as high blood glucose levels is closely associated with rapid tissue aging and chronic disease progression. We may reduce inflammation associated with the pain in knees and joints with herbs and essential fatty acids.
-
Anti-oxidant support may also be given because antioxidants are fundamental to prevent DNA damage and to assist in longevity and health.
-
Putting clients on the Wellness and Longevity program to increase muscle tone. This consists of exercises specifically designed to assist in the prevention of muscle wasting and toning of the body is included as part of the Anti-Aging program.
Anxiety
There are two different categories of how people display stress or anxiety. The first is the explosive personality and the second a more withdrawn, anxious person. Stress in today’s lifestyle can be an almost a daily occurrence for some people. You can go to bed stressed and wake up stressed whether it is from personal relationships, working conditions or lack of work, pressures put on you from others or pressures that you may place on yourself or just the everyday stresses of living in our western society. Stress is made worse by a poor diet with a high intake of refined sugars, a lack of exercise and insomnia.
Arthritis
Arthritis is the country’s number one crippling disease. It is not a simple disease in any form affecting not only the bones and joints but also the blood vessels, kidneys, skin, eyes and brain. It’s causes are linked to lifestyle habits and wear and tear. Many conventional treatments may not effectively treat the disease. The term arthritis meaning joint inflammation refers to over 100 rheumatic diseases that attack joint and connective tissue.
The main forms of arthritis are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Arthritis – Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease and is the most common form of arthritis. It often appears in the weight bearing joints like the knees, hips and spine and in the hands where there is much cartilage destruction followed by hardening and the formation of large bone spurs on the joints. The first sign of osteoarthritis show up as morning stiffness especially in damp weather, then pain from movement that worsens with prolonged activity. Osteoarthritis is a condition of age because decades of use lead to degenerative changes in joints and the decreasing ability of the body to repair itself. Although Osteoarthritis affects more women than men, a man who is 40 kilos overweight doubles the risk of knee and hip arthritis. Food allergies almost always contribute to osteoarthritis symptoms so good detoxification is a good place to start in the healing process. Today we know that osteoarthritis is repairable. Numerous scientific studies have shown that glucosamine sulphate, a natural body substance that stimulates the production of cartilage components, works even better than standard drugs.
Treatments include acupuncture and treatments on the Light machine. Herbs can be prescribed that reduce inflammation as well as helping to repair connective soft tissue. Other nutrients are prescribed to repair cells in the body and also to relieve pain.
Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis affects a fast majority of the population mainly women. It is a chronic, auto- immune, inflammatory disease whose primary target is the joint lining of the synovial membrane. When this connective membrane becomes inflamed, it may invade and damage nearby bone and cartilage, resulting in pain, stiffness, loss of movement and eventually destruction of multiple joints. Damage goes even further because Rheumatoid Arthritis also causes inflammation of the blood vessels and the outer lining of the heart and lungs. People who have Rheumatoid Arthritis also may have digestive problems, great fatigue, anaemia, ulcerative colitis, chronic lung and baronial congestion and liver malfunction.
Common causes include;
-
calcium depletion
-
gland and hormone imbalance and especially adrenal exhaustion
-
prolonged use of aspirin and cortico-steroid drugs that eventually impair the body’s own healing powers
-
poor diet lacking fresh fruit and vegetables and high in acid and mucous forming foods and food allergens.
Asthma
Asthma is a reversible airway obstruction. It is characterised by wheezing caused by the bronchial tubes going into spasm or through inflammation or excessive mucus production. Some forms of asthma are related to food sensitivities, gut intolerance and poor liver clearance of toxins. Detoxification will reduce toxin producing micro-organisms and food allergen sensitivities which may contribute to asthmatic attacks.
Contributing factors that may trigger an asthma attack are chemicals such as:
-
tartrazine,
-
EDTA,
-
Sodium benzoate
-
menthol
-
quinine
-
sulphites
Sensitivities include:
-
caffeine
-
nitrates
-
egg whites
-
MSG
-
nitrite
-
shellfish
-
strawberries
-
and reactions to ethanol
Bowel toxicity or history of constipation also are contributing factors leading to some asthma attacks.
Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is defined as changes to the walls of the arteries consisting of accumulated fats or lipids, smooth muscle cells and fibrous tissue. This can otherwise be known as hardening of the arteries. Environmental toxins and stimulators of inflammation such as free radicals, allergies and infections are able to cause damage to the arterial wall, thereby promoting atheroma build up. Contributing factors that may lead to atherosclerosis are:
-
obesity
-
alcohol
-
high saturated fat diet
-
Fatty Acid deficiency
-
smoking
-
sedentary lifestyle
-
low fibre diet
-
vitamin / mineral deficiency
The problem may be helped by a strong antioxidant and essential fatty acids to break down the thrombocyte aggregate, to reduce the atherosclersosis progression and the risk of heart attack.
Benign Prostate Problems
Symptoms can include feelings of discomfort and fullness, incomplete urination, dripping after urination, frequent urination especially during the night, bladder distension, blood in urine, loss of urinary flow or control and painful urination. Contributing factors include excess alcohol intake and a diet high in animal meat and fats.
A special zinc test can be used to identify zinc levels and the use of a modified diet. Special vitamin and herbal supplementation are also used. Special herbal teas can be introduced as these teas help to reduce prostate symptoms and revitalise energy.
Biliousness
Biliousness is due to the improper breakdown and processing of food causing an upset stomach. The organs involved are the stomach, pancreas, liver, the intestines and gallbladder.
A blend of herbs which can be used to restore and improve the effect of digestion, absorption and improve elimination. These herbs also can help improve liver function and repair gastrointestinal (gut) tissue. A modified diet allowed the gut to repair and to decrease the intake of toxins into the body. In ancient Chinese and Indian Medicine the digestive system is the “seat of life”.
Bone Loss or Osteoporosis
Bone loss or Osteoporosis is an absolute and progressive decrease in bone tissue mass. The contributing factors may include:
-
a lack of exercise
-
or for that matter excessive exercise (body builders, triathletes)
-
use of oral contraceptives
-
corticosteroid use as in some asthma medication
-
smoking
-
menopause
-
coffee consumption
-
and a diet high in protein and a high consumption of soft drinks like coke etc.
An osteoporosis risk factor urinary test can indicate calcium loss. Supplements can be given to support bone tissue, the supplement providing nutrients necessary for bone growth and repair. This is a special formula, as a high degree of calcium supplements are very hard to digest. Other supplements, such as Ipriflavone increases bone density and also decreases the fracture rate of osteoporotic or osteoarthritis sufferers. This supplement helps in the uptake of calcium supplements.
Treatment includes acupuncture and use of the light machine. Weight bearing exercises that are not overly stressful can be beneficial to potentially fragile bones and used to maintain adequate bone density and strength.
Bursitis
Bursitis pain is an acute swelling of the bursa, which are the filled protective sacs that are located where tendons or muscles pass over bony protrusions. Acute bursitis is characterised by pain, localised tenderness, reduced range of motion, swelling and redness are also common symptoms. Chronic bursitis may turn into adhesions, calcium deposits, muscle wasting and or a frozen shoulder. Contributing factors include trauma, acute or chronic infection, inflammatory or rheumatoid arthritis, chronic overuse, gout and organisms such as staph infection.
Acupuncture and use of the Light machine can be effectively used for this condition. Prescribed herbs may reduce inflammation as well as helping to repair connective soft issue. B12/ Folate may be also used to repair cells in the body.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome presents with a numbness or burning of the wrist and or on the surface of the first three digits of the hand.. While Carpal Tunnel syndrome has long been a problem for knitters and needleworkers and those doing repetitive task jobs, such as carpenters, musicians and assembly line workers, it is becoming a common ailment of the computer age. Standard medical treatment is usually cortisone shots to control swelling or in severe cases surgery to enlarge the carpal tunnel opening. But with natural therapies we possibly can relieve pain and act as a preventative to the development of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Factors that can lead to Carpal Tunnel are:
- continued stress on the wrist, hand and arm
- low thyroid function
- excessive protein consumption
- and oral contraceptives.
Use of acupuncture in conjunction with the light machine are applied. Prescribed high potency anti-inflammatory herbs assist in pain relief. Also a formula that assists in connective tissue and joint repair can be utilised. Clients are advised to make slight adjustments to their daily eating plan and to increase the intake of fresh green leafy vegetables and purified water.
Cellulite
Cellulite is a cosmetic defect of the skin where there appears to be dimpling or irregular bulging of the skin. The affected areas may appear to feel tight, heavy or tender. Cellulite is a combination of fat, water and trapped wastes beneath the skin. When the body’s circulation and elimination process becomes impaired, connective tissue loses its strength. Fats and wastes become trapped in the cells just below the skin instead of being expelled through normal means. Over a period of time these wastes become hardened and form the puckering skin effect we know as cellulite.
A balanced carbohydrate, protein and fat diet is used to treat this condition. Exercise programs are used which may help reduce the fatty deposits. Massage techniques and a complete bowel detoxification program is recommended to clear toxins and fats that are stored in the tissues. A special heat therapy is used. This program may also help with weight loss as it possibly can help with the removal of cellulite. Specific nutrients are also added to the diet to help clear the lymphatic system along with nutrients designed to stimulate fat loss and improve circulation.
It is important to note that excess cellulite is one of the early warning signs that the body is collecting and depositing toxins. Normally these toxins are eliminated through the skin, bowel or urine. But due to the overload the body is now trying to say “help me” as toxins are getting worse resulting in cellulite deposits.
Chest Pain
Cardiovascular Disease & Angina Heart Disease was almost unknown of before the turn of the century but today two thirds of the population suffer from some kind of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, coronary hypertension and stroke. The most frightening statistic of this disease process is that 50% of people have no other symptoms prior to their first attack and unfortunately this first attack may be fatal. Pretty scary really.
Clients may be given strong antioxidant and essential fatty acids to break down the thrombocyte aggregate, reduce platelet aggregation, whilst also reducing atherosclersosis progression and the risk of heart attack. A modified diet to assist the elimination of toxins from the body. Remember statistics reveal that 50% of people who have a heart attack or stroke don’t get a second chance.
Cholesterol
Have you been told by the doctor lately that your cholesterol is too high? Join the thousands who have . Cholesterol is a fat related substance in the body that is needed for many processes related to nerve and hormone function. Poor metabolism and over indulgence in high cholesterol foods lead to serious deposits in arteries, (especially within the heart), and to gallstones.
There are two kinds of cholesterol. HDL (high density lipo-protein) or good cholesterol and LDL/VLDL (low density and very low density lipo-proteins) or bad cholesterol. Triglycerides are a sugar related blood fat that travels with cholesterol . High triglycerides may cause blood cells to stick together, impairing circulation and leading to heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular disease.
A modified diet can reduce the intake of saturated fats and clients are advised against over eating. Exercise is suggested as this increases circulation and reduces body fat. A natural cholesterol lowering remedy is prescribed. Acupuncture may be given to stop smoking and reduce stress levels.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic Fatigue is described as a chronic persistent or relapsing debilitating fatigue that does not get better with bed-rest. Associated symptoms may include mild fever, sore throat, painful swollen glands under the arms, neck or groin, muscle weakness, headaches and sleep disturbances. Chronic Fatigue usually occurs in conjunction with a chronic viral infection.
A detoxifying program may be used to reduce toxicity level. Tests conducted by us have shown Leaky Gut syndrome has been implicated as a major contributing factor in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A modified diet can be used to assist with detoxification and allowing the body to recover from the viruses a person may be exposed to. A Vega test may be used to identify the virus and an appropriate homeopathic remedy may be prescribed.
A very gentle exercise program may help a person retain muscle tone. This program we use in the Centre can teach a person how to look after his body, his diet and the correct exercises to improve muscle tone. The aim is to maintain long-term wellness by looking at preventative medicine rather than treating the symptoms.
Constipation
Constipation is a difficult or infrequent evacuation of faeces. Going to the toilet daily at least once or twice is considered normal bowel habits without discomfort and the feeling as if the bowel has completely eliminated. Constipation can be dry like goat’s droppings or sticky.
Contributing factors include:
- intestinal parasites
- candida albicans
- lack of exercise, stress
- low fluid intake
- low fibre intake
- and food allergies.
A modified diet allows the body to eliminate toxins and to stop it producing more. Herbal mixtures help the bowel to rid itself of old matter left on the gut wall. Clients may be advised to increase fluid intakes to 2 litres a day and to do some regular walking to assist in any elimination problem.
Cystitis
Cystitis or recurrent bladder infections are more common in women than men whose male cystits is usually the result of prostate problems. Most common symptoms are frequent, urgent, burning, painful urination, especially at night, pain in the lower back and abdomen.
It is often caused by:
- cold or flu infections
- antibiotics
- venereal disease
- stress
- contraceptives
- food allergens
- coloured toilet paper
- kidney malfunction
- deodorants
- dehydration
- poor elimination
- and use of tampons.
Herbal formulas help urinary function and to fight the urinary tract infection. Antibacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal supplements control infections plus a herbal tea.. After any infection is removed Vitamin C is prescribed because low Vitamin C levels may allow the growth of bacteria. Acidophyllis is given to help restore the natural flora in the gut which would have been weakened due to the antibiotics.
Depression
Depression is a prolonged, persistent depressed mood which may be accompanied by one or more of the following:
- poor appetite
- increased appetite
- insomnia
- excessive sleeping
- fatigue /tiredness
- hyperactivity
- constant nervousness (jitters)
- decreased sexual drive
- feelings of low self esteem
- inability to concentrate
- recurrent suicidal tendencies
- food cravings
The presence of five or more of these symptoms may indicate depression.
Tests can be conducted for signs of hypothyroidism and under-active thyroid. Diet can play a role in depression so changes to the diet may assist with blood sugar imbalances and the removal of certain foods from the diet can help. Herbs and vitamins can also be prescribed to assist with the depression and insomnia. Stress can be treated naturally with herbs like Withania and Bacopa.
Dermatitis
Dermatitis is a chronic itching and/or superficial inflammation of the skin, usually occurring in individuals with a personal or family history of allergic disorders (e.g. hayfever or asthma).
Dyspepsia
Dyspepsia is a disturbed digestive process and can cause digestive difficulty and digestive symptoms. Factors that can lead to this are use of antibiotics that kill the good and bad flora of the gut, stress, dieting, skipping meals, eating on the run and eating too fast.
We use prescribed medication to correct the gut dysfunction. A lifestyle change in diet may help rid the body of toxins. Supplements are used to correct the any deficiencies found in the blood.
Ear Ache
The most common type of infection in adults is swimmers ear – an inflammation of the outer ear canal. Middle ear infections are common in children whose eustachian tubes have not fully formed. Frequent use of antibiotics for these types of ear infections may often results in thrush in children and candida in adults.
EndometriosisEndometriosis is a condition caused by mis-location and overgrowth of uterine endometrial tissue and attachment of this tissue to other organs. It is normal tissue growing in abnormal places. Menstrual flow is heavy and painful and much of the waste blood flows back through the fallopian tubes instead of the normal process. This may result in fibrosis and adhesions within the area. Endometriosis is one of the most common causes of female infertility.
It can cause painful cycle, mood swings, breast pain, bloating and swollen hands and feet to name but a few.
It is often caused by:
- excessive levels of oestrogen,
- and deficient progestreone and hormone imbalances that causes chemical imbalances within the body.
Specific modified diet can be used to assist with detoxification and to reduce fluid retention. Acupuncture and prescribed Herbal mixes may assist with hormone imbalances. (Acupuncture or a light machine can be used to assist with pain are options if they are required).
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a debilitating often painful muscle problem. It is often associated with anxiety and sleeplessness. Pain all over the body is the main problem with Fibromyalgia. Tests are used to determine which important nutrients may be missing in a person’s body.
Gout
Gout is a common type of arthritis suffered primarily (90%) by middle aged males. The cause is tiny needle like crystals of uric acid in blood and body fluids caused by too much red meat, refined foods, alcohol, sugar and caffeine that causes an overloaded kidney to not excrete properly. It can also be caused by an overuse of diuretics causing potassium deficiency. Lead toxicity, obesity and low blood sugars are some other causes.
A modified diet may ease the symptoms and acupuncture and a special light machine treatment over two weeks help detoxify the feet which may ease the pain immediately.
Headaches
Headaches and/or Cluster headaches mean severe, localised pain, dilated blood vessels with irritated nerves within the head area. Migraines mean many symptoms including constriction or dilation of the brain, scalp and face. The symptoms can last anywhere from 4 hours to two days, and can include nausea, vomiting. It is usually made worse by light and movement.
Severe gut dysfunction can be a cause of headaches. A modified diet can ease the symptoms and acupuncture and a special light machine may ease headaches and gradually reduce the problem.
Hypothyroidism
Are you feeling sluggish, tired and keep putting on weight? You may have Clinical or Subclinical Hypothyroidism. Clinical Hypothyroidism or low thyroid function is a condition where the thyroid is not producing enough thyroxin hormone. This is diagnosed by a blood test.
Symptoms of clinical hypothyroidism include:
-
tiredness
-
sluggishness
-
cold hand & feet
-
puffy & swollen face
-
slow heartbeat
-
easy weight gain
-
pre menstrual tension
-
and thinning of hair.
However sub-clinical hypothyroidism is where you may have all the same symptoms as the above but your blood test is normal.
It can be associated with:
-
low blood sugar fluctuations
-
allergies
-
psoriasis
-
acne
-
undiagnosed skin problems
-
low blood pressure
-
obesity
-
and depression.
Insomnia
Not sleeping? Had enough of counting sheep? Then read on to improve your health/sleep patterns. Millions suffer from insomnia, twisting, turning, agonizing through the night, battling anxiety and rumpled bedding.
The common causes are:
-
chronic stress
-
tension
-
depression and anxiety with an inability to turn off your mind
-
too much caffeine
-
pain
-
hypoglycemia
-
overeating
-
indigestion
-
and toxic liver overload.
Australian consumes millions of tranquilizers annually. You need to look deeply at the side effects if you are taking commercial sleeping tablets because they may interfere with the process of dreaming. They possibly can interrupt normal sleep patterns and don’t allow you to go into a healing sleep.
Kidney Stones
Kidney stones form when minerals that normally float free in the kidney fluids combine into crystals. When there is an overload of inorganic mineral waste and too little fluid, the molecules can’t dissolve properly and form sharp edged stones.
The causes include:
-
excess sugar
-
eating red meat
-
and carbonated drinks and caffeine in the diet.
Acupuncture may help relieve the pain. A special herbal tea can be prescribed which will help to flush the kidneys. A modified diet is used to avoid toxic compounds which may affect the urinary tract and kidney stones.
Liver
Is your Liver giving you a hard time? The health and vitality of all the body systems depends to a large extent on the health and vitality of the liver. It is the body’s most complex and useful organ. The liver is a major blood reservoir filtering out toxins, it manufactures bile to digest fats and prevents constipation. It also metabolises proteins and carbohydrates and secretes hormones and enzymes.
A toxic liver or liver dysfunction can cause:
-
general depression
-
unexplained weight gain
-
great tiredness
-
poor digestion nausea
-
dizziness
-
jaundiced
-
and or liver spots.
Nutrient supplements are used which may improve the function of the liver and also a program is used to help repair the function of the gut wall which is where all the toxins are coming from. We can design a special liver rejuvenation program to cleanse the liver.
Menopause
Menopause is intended by nature to be a gradual reduction in oestrogen by the ovaries with few side effects. Although almost 90% of women experience some menopausal symptoms, most symptoms only last a year or two and are not severe enough to interrupt their lives. But for those with severe and continued symptoms they can stem from exhausted adrenals and poor liver function, where it does not process oestrogens correctly.
Many symptoms arise from:
-
deficient nutrition
-
lack of exercise
-
thyroid imbalance
-
exhausted adrenals stress
-
and vitamin deficiencies.
Symptoms may include hot flushes, mood swings, insomnia, low libido and irritability. This is a situation where natural remedies may help. Supplementation, a specially modified diet and increased exercise can possibly help with this menopausal problems. Men over 40 can also suffer from Male Menopause. The symptoms include mood swings, stress, irritability and lack of interest and vitality etc.
Menstrual Problems
Progesterone is the factor that assures uniform shedding of the uterine lining. Low levels of this hormone result in tissue buildup. At the same time relatively high levels of oestrogen stimulate the uterine lining causing even more endometrial tissue formation. The combination of these two factors lead to abnormal blood flow during menstruation. Other symptoms can be PMS symptoms of bloating, irritability and depression during the cycle.
Common causes are:
-
hypothyroidism
-
nutritional deficiencies in the diet which cause hormonal and glandular imbalances
-
uterine fibroids
-
endometriosis
-
calcium and iron deficiencies.
-
A homoeopathic remedy can be prescribed along with other supplements such as Vitamin C and a special mushroom extract needed to stimulate the immune system. Rest is also prescribed.
Mononucleosis (Glandular Fever)
Mononucleosis or Epstein Barr Virus or Glandular fever as it is commonly known is a virus that attacks the respiratory and lymphatic systems with a flu like infection. Glands, lymph nodes, bronchial tubes, liver and spleen are all affected. The virus is virulent and highly infectious. The whole body feels the symptoms of fever, sore throat, headaches, swollen glands, jaundice, muscle aches and general long term fatigue. The whole body feels run down.
A homoeopathic remedy can be prescribed along with other supplements such as Vitamin C and a special mushroom extract needed to stimulate the immune system. Rest is also prescribed.
Morning Sickness
Morning sickness is an acute nausea associated with pregnancy. It may occur at any time of the day. It is thought to be caused by increased levels of oestrogen being produced by the placenta. No drugs have been approved for use in morning sickness during pregnancy, due to the fear of foetal absorption and side effects.
A course of acupuncture to relieve nausea and assist in evening out hormonal levels can be applied. Nutritional support for the liver aid in the removal of expired hormones when their useful function is over. Vitamin B6 and herbs may be given to support liver function. Ginger tea may also be given to help reduce nausea and stomach upsets. B12 folate may also included to assist with pregnancy.
Neuralgia
Neuralgia is an overexcited, overactive disorder of the nervous system. Symptoms may be severe, sharp pain along the course of the nerves, tingling and numbness, muscle weakness, spasm of muscle with associated muscle tenderness and with tendon weakness.
Weekly acupuncture can be used to ease pain. Nutrients are given to target the central nervous system, adrenal glands and liver support. We prescribe medication to correct any gut dysfunction. Changes to diet can help rid the body of toxins . Supplements are used to correct any deficiencies found in the blood. The combination of acupuncture and diet changes can have a significant improvement in quality of life for this condition.
Obesity (See Weight Loss)
Would you like to put an end to weight gain? With one out of three adults in Australia today on some sort of weight loss program and with obesity in teenagers increasing dramatically over the years maybe it is time to sit back and find out why many of the weight loss programs today are not working and people seem to be rebounding back into weight problems.
Diets low in fat, low in cholesterol and high in carbohydrates are failing and its time we looked at diets high in protein and good fat and low in carbohydrates. Diets of this nature have been successful in treating hypertension, childhood seizures and behavioral problems, high cholesterol and trigyclerides, atherosclerosis and diabetes. These type of diets have been found to be best for weight loss that stays off.
At the Wellbeing Centre we tailor make your diet. An accurate reading is taken of your fat/muscle ratio and we will monitor this measurement every week to make sure you are burning fat and not muscle. We provide diet suggestions with accurate amounts of protein, carbohydrate and fat that you are to consume. We also do weekly testing of other areas to make sure the fat is being burnt. We also provide the supplements needed for the fat loss (you will notice we didn’t say weight loss). Fat loss is more important because muscle is also a part of our normal weight. We do NOT want to loose precious muscle tissue.
Osteroporosis (Bone Loss)
Osteoporosis is the absolute and progressive decrease in bone tissue mass. It makes the bone thinner and more prone to break. Eventually bone mass decreases below the level required to support the body. Long considered a women’s problem because of its hormonal involvement it also affects men, although at a later age and with less ferocity.
An osteoporosis risk factor urinary test can be undertaken to indicate bone density readings. Natural supplements are used to support bone tissue providing nutrients necessary for bone growth and repair. This is a special formula because a high degree of calcium supplements are very hard to digest.
Others supplements, such as Ipriflavone increases bone density and also decreases the fracture rate of osteoporotic or osteoarthritis sufferers. This supplement helps in the uptake of calcium supplements. Acupuncture and treatment on the light machine are given to help relieve pain. Some weight bearing exercises that are not overly stressful on potentially fragile bones are recommended. This is required to maintain adequate bone density and strength.
Prostate Enlargement
Find the seven easy steps to help determine if you have a prostate problem. Symptoms may include feelings of discomfort and fullness, incomplete urination, dripping after urination, frequent urination especially during the night, bladder distention, blood in urine, loss of urinary flow or control painful urination and out of the blue urgency in wanting to pass urine.
Clients are tested for low zinc levels. Special vitamin and herbal supplementation are prescribed together with natural supplements and slight dietary changes. Special herbal teas are suggested because these teas help to reduce prostate symptoms and revitalise energy.
Parasite Infections
Worm and parasite infections can range from mild and hardly noticeable to serious and even life threatening in a child. Worms are parasites that live and feed in the intestinal tract. Parasites can move all over the body including the brain.
A detoxifying program can be recommended. We also test for Leaky Gut syndrome which is strongly related to parasite infections. A modified diet assists with detoxification and to allow the body to recover from the parasites. A natural mixture is given to improve the immune system. Herbs are also prescribed to rid the body of parasites.
Sciatica
Sciatica is inflammation of the Sciatic nerve which runs from the low back across the buttocks, into the leg, calf and foot. Sciatic pain may be caused by a compression of the sciatic nerve, characterised by sharp, radiating pain running down the the buttocks and the back of the hamstring muscle. Common causes include nerve compression from:
-
ruptured discs
-
arthritis
-
poor posture and muscle tone
-
menopause
-
obesity
-
lack of exercise
-
diet deficiencies.
A period of acupuncture treatments and the use of a light machine is prescribed. Nutrients are prescribed to target the central nervous system, adrenal glands and liver support. A lifestyle change diet is used to help rid the body of toxins. Supplements are used to correct the deficiencies found in the blood. The combination of acupuncture and diet changes may make significant improvement in quality of life for the client.

Stress
Would you like to relieve anxiety, depression or the stress of life. Everyone is affected by varying degrees of stress. It is experienced by those who work in polluted atmospheres, by those who are immobilised at control desks with machines or instruments that demand continual attention, by those who travel constantly, by those with mundane boring jobs etc. At best, stress may causes fatigue, at worst it may be dangerous to health.

A Gastric Ulcer is the same except it is located in the stomach. Most ulcers are caused by H. Pylori, a common stomach bacterium. The problem with this bacteria (H. Do you have swollen hands and feet after sleep? Water Retention is the excessive accumulation of fluid in body tissues and cavities and is often the result of not drinking enough water, the wrong type of fluid or the inability to digest fluid. If we don’t get sufficient water, fluid levels go out of balance and the body begins to retain more water in an effort to compensate.
Kidney, liver, blood pressure, circulation, premenstrual tension and pregnancy problems are all associated with water retention. Medical diuretics, alcoholic drinks and other drugs can dehydrate. Or you may not just be drinking enough healthy fluids.
Weight Loss
It feels great to loose that unwanted fat. Weight loss is a national obsession. With one out of three adults in Australia today on some sort of weight loss program and with obesity in teenagers increasing dramatically over the years maybe it is time to sit back and find out why many of the weight loss programs today are not working and people seem to be rebounding back into weight loss problems.
Diets low in fat, low in cholesterol and high in carbohydrates are failing and its time we looked at diets high in protein and good fat and low in carbohydrates. Diets of this nature have been successful in treating hypertension, childhood seizures and behavioural problems, high cholesterol and trigyclerides, atherosclerosis and diabetes and have been found to be best for weight loss that stays off. In the rush to look good how easy is it to throw ourselves into one of those fad diets we always read about. But these are damaging our health and continuing us on the weight seesaw.
At the Wellbeing Centre we tailor make your diet. An accurate reading is taken of your fat/muscle ratio and we will monitor this ratio every week to make sure you are burning fat not muscle. You will notice we don’t say weight loss. Fat loss is more important because muscle is also a part of our normal weight. We do NOT want to loose precious muscle tissue.
