Make Changes Today – Have No Regrets Tomorrow!

W.E.B. Du Bois, 1868-1963

I would like to begin with a wonderful quote by W.E.B. DuBois:

But first, just in case you’re not familiar with W E B Du Bois.

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was a noted American scholar, historian, author and editor. He made significant contributions to debates about race, politics, and history in the United States in the first half of the 20th century, primarily through his writing and impassioned speaking on human rights.

He understood what change meant, how to bring it about and the challenges making changes may bring.

Here’s his famous quote;

“The most important thing to remember is this:

To be ready at any moment to give up what you are
For what you might become.”

This simply means that we should not fear making changes in our lives – we should be ready to take hold of any opportunity for change to enhance our lives, as this change may make us a better person, a healthier person, a more positive person, one who embraces all of life.

We are all constantly going through periods of change even though we don’t realise it.

Unfortunately, most of us don’t relate to change or transformation very well. We run from it, even when that change or transformation is good for us.

Here are some things to think about when you are facing change or trying to decide whether or not to take that firststep:

1. You need conviction and commitment to make change. Make up your mind to change and make those changes.

2. You should be honest with yourself about what needs to be changed and reflect on how you are going to react to that change.

3. You have to realize that you are the only person who can bring about change in your life. No one else can do it for you. They can be supportive, but you have to do the work. You have to take action.

4. You can always benefit from having a strong support network around you. Being with people who understand what you are going through will help immensely.

Personally I have found to have a strong support network guarantees success no matter what the challenge or challenges

Let me share a story with you that might help illustrate my point more clearly.

A few years ago, a dressmaker went to her employer. She had just announced her wedding and decided to stop working so she could have more time to plan her wedding and to spend with her future husband. The employer understood, but asked if she would finish one order that needed to be filled before she left. The dressmaker agreed.

Ironically, the project was a wedding dress. It

was going to be a beautiful dress but the dressmaker was anxious to leave, so she rushed through it. The finished dress was not up to her usual high standard of work. Some of the stitching was weak and probably would not last. She had skipped some of the beading because it took so long. But she thought that if any changes were asked for, she’d be gone and someone else could do the work.

The employer came up to her and gave the dressmaker a cheque for the work. Then the employer said, “The dress is your wedding gift from me. Congratulations!”

Just like the dressmaker, we piece together our lives. If we take the easy way and don’t push ourselves to do the best, we’re going to find disappointment. With our 20/20 hindsight, we’ll wish we could go back in time and do a better job, try a little harder. But then sometimes it’s too late! You can never go back – life is always changing and the next phase is always just about to begin.

Serious diseases are like a time bomb waiting to happen and are an accumulation of symptoms brought about by inflexibility to change.

And that brings us to your health. How you treat your body today, affects your future! You can’t wait until you have diabetes, a stroke, a heart attack, or some other serious health problem and wish that you could go back in time to make the changes in your lifestyle that were available to you. When the opportunity arises to create the healthy, happy, and lengthy life you want, start making those changes today, so you don’t have regrets tomorrow!

So my “proposal” to you is to write down all that you don’t like about your health. Now you have a starting place because as they change you’ll be able to cross them off your list. Remember from the four dot points above, you nee

d commitment, honesty, action and support. The first 3 are all about you and the last point is where our Centre can help enormously.

Also throughout future emails you’ll be given advice that will help you to create the health that you have longed for, but like anything knowledge is useless unless it’s put into ACTION.

Wishing You Good Health,
Wayne Pickstone

P.S. The world we now live in is bursting with opportunities, the information age brings with it new frontiers and those who are inflexible to change will be left behind. In the 21st century Health is paramount, prevention is supreme and disease can be reversed with commitment and the right knowledge.

P.P.S. Statistically 80% of the population doesn’t like change. 20% embrace it. All you have to do is decide which percentage group you want to belong to. By continuing to be one of our loyal readers, like the thousands who already are, you undoubtedly want to be in the top 20%. Congartulations.

What Others Are Saying About Us!

Cancer Survivor

“Prior to Diagnosis,
I thought I was Healthy”

Annie P From Hervey Bay

Hi, my name is Annie and I am proud to say I turned 60 last year. Seven months ago I completed a course of radiation and chemotherapy for cancer. Came out of it pretty much a train wreck. Skinny as, dreadful brain fog, weak as water and suffering from what I termed ‘post traumatic stress disorder’. In other words, I felt and looked very, very vulnerable and extremely ill.

I started coming to the Hervey Bay Wellbeing Centre several days after my initial diagnosis. At the time, I respected that orthodox medical treatment was going to address the obvious symptoms of my disease, but I believed I would need some assistance with searching for the cause, addressing this and dealing with the aftermath of conventional cancer treatment. In other words, I needed HOPE that I was not only going to survive, but thrive.

From day one Libby took me seriously and lined up an appointment with Wayne Pickstone. I had heard he was good and had several friends who had recommended him to me in the past. At the time I thought I was pretty healthy as I had always taken a keen interest in my diet and fitness level. It is interesting to note that at this time, I was enjoying life immensely, having travelled around Australia on my own for a year, with a newly acquired qualification and huge interest and practice in art. Life had never been better. My goal from day 1 was to get back to that state of being.

I was scared, confused, teary,
and very weak.

The Wellbeing Centre has addressed not only my physical needs but mental, emotional and spiritual ones as well. I was scared, confused, teary, and very weak.

They carried out numerous tests, the results of which I took a keen interest in and have continued to do so. As I had been a person who baulked at taking even an Aspro, I was pretty confronted with the amount of supplements and treatments that were recommended. It seemed like that nothing in my body was working properly, and guess what, I finally realised that that is what having cancer is all about. My immune system had packed it in, due in part I’m sure to heaps of stress in the past and other things like incorrect nutrition and acquired toxins.

I’d like to say following Wayne’s suggestions and protocols was easy but it was anything but. It required much faith (not blind) in his expertise, determination on my part to be healthy and happy again, huge discipline to carry out his suggestions and most importantly, a realisation on my part that the Wellbeing Centre was here, in Hervey Bay (not Mexico) just for me. How lucky was I.

Today, just seven months later, I am transformed. I have almost never felt better. I respect that it takes time for my body to heal, so have used this time to relax, read, enjoy my home and friends and be, oh so pleased and grateful to be alive. Now, I am ready to do some more travelling, finish my studies, get on with making art, and plan some big adventures for a future I had briefly thought might not happen. Thanks so much Wayne, Libby, Lorraine and the rest of the team for your professionalism in practice, and for your friendship.

Jay’s Journey
“Thankyou for your expertise, dedication & Caring”

Jay Emerick from Dundowran holding her
beautiful home made craft bag

Several years ago we arrived in Hervey Bay to build a new home. I had not long retired from teaching and I had stopped playing hockey because I was in constant pain with my back and, my right leg continually gave way when I was walking or running.

I needed help……………

Arriving at the Wellbeing Centre I introduced myself to Wayne (I had met Wayne briefly in another practice before Hervey bay.) and also met Libby, Lorraine and Clarence. After a full assessment Wayne explained what my tests were showing and what basically had to happen to improve my health – including getting some major dental work done which was critical to allow any other treatments to help.

I have now been following a program (for several years) working with all four members of the team using Naturopathic, Nutrition, Mind Body, Massage and Detox.

I have learnt to listen to my body, to read the signs my body gives, learnt to cleanse my body enabling it to heal and function correctly. I have learnt that years of little problems let go will lead to big problems and these bigger problems take TIME & PATIENCE to reverse and heal.

I have just turned 70 years old and I am so much healthier in myself – body and mind – than when I walked for the first time through the WELLBEING doors. I am back playing tennis, doing heavy garden work, walking, I love my craft work (see my beautiful bag) and occasionally riding my bike and also sewing even when we are travelling.

I am on the 7th rung of a 10 rung ladder and I am really looking forward to the next 30 years of enjoying life, family and friends.

Thankyou and a BIG thankyou to the whole Wellbeing team for your expertise, dedication and your caring attitudes. I will forever be grateful and will definitely invite you to my 100th Birthday.

“There is no such thing as old age…”

Dear Wayne,

I remember you saying, there is no such thing as old age, and you were right. As this little book tells you, the bible speaks of a future on earth and our having everlasting life.

I would like you to have that hope. Thankyou for the understanding and empathy you have shown me.

From Your Grateful
Elderly Patient
Hilda

“I am living again…”

“I’m, a lady in my early 60’s, and I have suffered from arthritic pains for four years before I visited the clinic. My main complaint was unbearable pain in the major joints of my body. After a few simple tests it was revealed that I had a severe gut dysfunction (Pain in the Gut.)

I didn’t ever think that gut problems could cause arthritis. I was given six consecutive treatments of acupuncture and was immediately started on a Wellness program.

The major treatment priority was focusing on how to improve that “Pain in the Gut.” Now 2 months later I am living again, with only limited pain and I am continuing my lifestyle changes that will eventually allow me to regain my new life once again.”

“The centre is very professional”

I came to the Hervey Bay Wellbeing, Anti-Aging & Longevity Centre as they had a special offer on a check up and I felt it was a good opportunity. Overall I feel the centre is very professional.

My digestive system has settled down and is functioning well. My stomach feels more comfortable, I don’t have any more reflux and my bowel motions are good.

“I Look & Feel Younger”

I have been seeing Wayne for a while now and he suggested I try Mind/ body technique with Libby. I have had two sessions now, and I feel much better after just two treatments.

I am feeling a lot less tired, with much, much more energy. I use to have a rest in the day but now I just keep on going and I feel younger and am working like I was 36 again. I recommend this to anybody

I felt much better with 1 session but heaps with the second. I have lost lots of fluid and even looking younger

“This has given me the drive to better
myself in many  areas of my life.”

The Hervey Bay Wellbeing centre has been a great support system for myself and has been there for me on many levels. I came to the Hervey Bay Wellbeing Centre approximately 5 years ago over weight, run down, thoroughly exhausted and not to mention depressed. I have attended the Hervey Bay Wellbeing Centre for Naturopathic Assistance, Massage and Mind Body.

The Naturopathic appointments have given me sound advice and many minerals to help me correct my body’s natural balance. This has given me the drive to better myself in many areas of my life. The change in my wellbeing and attitude has helped me improve myself from losing weight to better eating habits and a healthier mental state.

The Mind and Body sessions with Lorraine has given me the ability to manage every day issues and help me through my past experiences. Lorraine’s help has been a major influence in helping me put balance, structure and meaning back into my life.

Lorraine certainly gives you value for money with one of her Mind body sessions which are extremely uplifting and enlightening. I now feel happier, healthier and more rejuvenated. Lorraine makes you feel cared for by listening and talking to you she has helped me to keep more focussed and has a calming effect on me.
The Nadi Steam Massage is the most relaxing and calming massage I have ever had.

All the Hervey Bay Wellbeing Staff are friendly, give helpful service and have a wonderful outlook on life.
Thanks to the team at the Hervey Bay Wellbeing Centre for all your help and guidance.

“At sixty one, I do not takemedication, I use
natural health remedies”

For someone with Fibromyalgia, it’s nothing short of a miracle...

Just a thank you Wayne, many years ago when you were in Gladstone, I came to see you when I was unwell. You put me on a program that at the time seemed daunting, changing a life time of eating habits. Well for years I kept that program going, making a few changes over the years, but the outcome of it was, that migraine headaches and Asthma have never been apart of my life since.

The things you taught me back then remain with me today, at sixty one, I do not take medication I use natural health remedies, and continue to learn more about healthy living.

I found you again in August last year I think it was, as I needed once again to make more changes, and even though, sticking to the diet is hard sometimes, I realize the benefits' far out way the enjoyment for the moment of eating the wrong type of food.

For about four years, I had slid back a little into the old lifestyle, not much, but enough to give me some health issues. So it was good that I found you when looking on the net.

I have learned to recognize signals that my body is sending me when all is not well. And to make the changes that is needed.

I belong to a group in the States of people, mainly women that have fibromyalgia. The internet is such a good tool for sharing with others and making new friends of that group. I am the only one doing well enough that I don't take medication, and my quality of life is so much better.

I often wonder what it would be like if I had not had the knowledge that I have gained from what you have taught me with this illness.

There is a verse in The Bible that says: My people perish for lack of knowledge. How true this is, knowledge is so important in many ways.

Gillian Bullock, Gladstone

Libby’s Journey!!!

Libby would like to tell her story so you can understand that we all didn’t come here healthy and raring to go.

Nearly 10 years ago I made an appointment at the Hervey Bay Wellbeing Centre to see Wayne. I had suffered for countless years with digestive and hormone problems. I was overweight and extremely exhausted.

My diet was unhealthy and I didn’t exercise.

During my first visit my hopes were raised that things could be improved. I undertook many tests which showed severe gut dysfunction and liver problems, my immune system wasn’t working and I had nutrient deficiencies. No wonder I had not felt well, even though all of my medical tests from the doctor were indicating that everything was normal. I think the doctor thought I was a hypochondriac but I just knew that something wasn’t right with my health.

Wayne started me on a protocol to assist my hormones and abdominal discomfort and he introduced me to his lifestyle change diet and it definitely did change my life.
What a difference this made, within 10 days I no longer had digestive discomfort or any abdominal pain. I can now say that this has changed my life forever, because I definitely do not want to go back to
the way I was surviving before.

Everyday is now enjoyable as I am no longer in pain; I am not overweight and have so much more energy. I only wish I had discovered true health 20 years ago.

I eventually believed so much in what Wayne was achieving that I became a partner in the company. I now truly live my belief of health and wellness.
